Ever wonder how and why honey bees collect nectar and pollen? How does pollination happen and why is it important? How is honey made? What does the inside of a hive look like?
These questions (and more) will be answered at our Honey Bee Experience.
What to Expect:
We will have an in-field discussion of how honey bees collect and process nectar and pollen.
Explanation of pollination and fertilization with hands-on plant examples. General discussion of life in a hive for the worker bees, drones & queen and what jobs are performed by each.
We will perform a hive inspection while participants are safe behind a screen room seeing an active hive and asking questions.
Our final, but very important discussion is about how selfless bees are, and how critical they are to maintaining ALL life.
Our honey bee experience is two hours long and offered at 9:30am during April - October and at 1pm from November - March.
Cost:
Pricing is $30 per child (does not include snack) and $20 for each additional child within the same household. Parents are FREE and encouraged to participate!
